Severe hailstorms have brought flooding and widespread disruption to northern Germany, with footage from the city of Kassel showing golfball-sized stones having fallen.

Video filmed on the afternoon June 22 shows traffic struggling to advance through flooded streets, and other footage shows home being struck by heavy winds and a downpour of hailstones.

Schools have been shut and traffic is still disrupted the following day.
