Locals rubbed herbs and spices on beef ribs to make an exotic raw meat delicacy.

Footage shows a father and his relatives pouring a dry mixture of salt, chilis, pepper, chives, and other local flavouring onto the slab in Nakhon Phanom province, Thailand on May 24.

Aside from dry spices, the meat was also bathed in lime juice, much like the seafood ceviche.

The beef was thoroughly cleaned to be served fresh at the family dinner party, where they enjoyed traditional Thai dishes.

Local Aong Tubtio said: ‘It looks scary and intimidating at first, but you will get to like its taste the more you eat. It's a unique but exciting part of the culture.'

Some regard the raw meat dish called Koi as one of the most dangerous dishes to try in Thailand, alongside raw pig blood soup.
