Assam, an Indian state, struggles with severe flooding that has, so far, affected 500,000 residents across roughly 22 districts. The Tamulpur area in the Baksa district is among the most impacted, with numerous villages, such as Chapatal, Govakusi, Barbila, and Salikanda, submerged. The floods have caused substantial infrastructure damage, including several bridges.

In one notable incident, a bridge in Tamulpur's Kumarikata area collapsed as locals watched from both sides. Video footage has shown knee-deep water inundating parts of the district. The Regional Meteorological Department has issued a warning for residents to remain alert due to expected heavy rainfall and thunderstorms in some areas.

The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) reports that the Bajali district is experiencing the worst of the flooding, with roughly 260,000 people affected. Rescue and relief efforts are ongoing, involving paramilitary forces, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES), civil administrations, NGOs, and local communities.
