This is the heart-stopping moment a quick-thinking driver pulled away - as an out-of-control truck swerved towards him on a wet road.

Noltawat Onprom was waiting at a junction when the 12-wheel lorry came hurtling along the highway following heavy rain in Surat Thani province, Thailand, on May 21.

The industrial vehicle carrying rocks was careering straight at Noltawat's car but he showed his lightning-fast reactions and accelerated to the left - avoiding a potentially deadly collision.

Noltawat said: ‘If I hadn't moved away, I would suffered the full impact and might not be around to talk about it.

'I hope this incident becomes a lesson for all drivers to be extra careful during the rainy season.'

Noltawat added the truck eventually regained control after the near-miss but did not stop to check on the other drivers.

He said: ‘I hope the truck driver could apologise to us. He almost hit us and we heard nothing.'
