An elephant broke into a residential home in search of food, damaging appliances in southwestern China.

CCTV footage filmed in Mengla County in Yunnan Province on June 26 shows an elephant wandering around in front of a villager's house.

According to the house owner Mr Hong, the elephant rummaged through his kitchen for food and trampled on several items, including a washing machine, but thankfully, no one was injured.

A staff member from Mengpao Town in Mengla County reported that they would dispatch a team to the villager's house to assess the damage caused by the elephant's unexpected visit.
