This is the shocking moment an American man launched a racist rant at his neighbours - having woken them up while he argued in the street with his partner.

The man, who has not been identified, became abusive to innocent residents during a row with his apparent lover outside their home in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, in the early hours of Sunday morning (June 24).

Shaken neighbours heard the commotion and called security guards in the gated community of newbuild homes but the raging ex-pat appeared to become even angrier.

Disturbing footage shows him branding the woman recording him a 'f****** stupid Khmer'. He then confronts her and yells 'take your f****** video, you stupid f****** Khmer, you f*** for money, too, you stupid f****** Khmer'.

Impoverished Southeast Asian women have stereotypically been used as paid sex objects by Western men going all the way back to the arrival of American GIs in the region during the Vietnam War from 1955 to 1975.

The angry man was then seen waving a piece of paper around - believed to be a property lease or ownership documents - while shouting at two more security guards who arrived at the incident on motorcycles.

A second woman was standing nearby in tears as the American man claimed she lived in a nearby property, seemingly trying to make her leave.

He then returned to the neighbour recording him while yelling 'do you f*** your husband for money, too, you stupid f****** piece of s***.'

Locals said the confrontation continued for around 10 to 15 minutes before the American returned to his home. Shockingly, police are said to have told residents that they were unable to attend.

The woman recording the video, who did not want to be named, said: 'Foreigners are not allowed by law to buy a house here, so this property might be rented or in his wife's name, but there was some argument about it with the woman.

'I heard a motorbike thrown down in the road followed by shouting. I live across the road so it was scary when I heard this at around 2 am. I called the security and went to check if there was serious violence. I was afraid something serious would happen.

'The man pointed at me and screamed at me, as you can see in the video. I even called the police but they said they could not come and I should file a complaint in the morning.

'I don't care about why they were arguing or who was right or wrong, but the important thing is that it disturbed my relaxation time and other residents on the road.'

The police are not believed to have taken action against the man once the domestic dispute had calmed down.

Americans have a chequered history in Cambodia, having repeatedly bombed the innocent country during the Vietnam War as a perverse show of strength to the Communist enemy - killing more than 150,000 locals.

They then spent almost two decades - along with Thailand and China - supporting and funding the genocidal Khmer Rouge as a bulwark against the perceived threat of Vietnamese expansion in the region.
