This is the impressive moment a pilot landed a private jet - without any nose gear.

The Gulfstream II was carrying six passengers and crew when it was diverted to make an emergency landing at the Felipe Angeles International Airport in Mexico on Tuesday June 27.

Firetrucks were primed for disaster as the aircraft approached the runway but the skilled aviator somehow managed to keep control of the 7.8 million USD jet.

Footage shows the plane balancing on its two main wheels on either side of the fuselage while keeping the nose in the air to avoid a trail of high-speed sparks and smoke, which could ignite into a fire.

The pilot then brought the plane to a rest at the end of the runway as firemen secured the area.

An Airport spokesman said the Gulfstream took off from the Monterrey International Airport in Nuevo Leon bound for Mexico City International Airport before the landing gear failiure was discovered.

Air traffic controllers then diverted the jet to the nearby Felipe Angeles International Airport as it has a longer runway and was deemed to be better prepared for a crash.

The airport said in a statement: 'The aircraft managed to land at Felipe Angeles International Airport due to its greater capacity for security, the technology that this airport has, an extension of the runway and the rescue service and firefighting team that places it in Category 9 level of airport security.

'There were no personal injuries to mention, only material losses to the plane which are yet to quantified. In addition, due to the capacities of this airport, air operations continued.

'The administration of Felipe Angeles International Airport reiterates its commitment to operational safety to meet the expectations of commercial and private airlines, as well as those of clients and users.'
