A pickup truck with a broken-down trailer was seen spluttering across a busy road.

Footage shows the green dilapidated car carrying boxes, pots, pans, and packed vegetables as it stopped in front of street vendors in Pathum Thani province, Thailand on June 7.

The run-down truck's rear end sagged and touched the concrete road, which made a screeching sound when it moved.

Confused onlooker Thosaphol Mookata who was eating dinner at a restaurant on the other side of the road, said he couldn't understand how the truck still works.

He said: ‘I wouldn't get near that truck. The driver was brave and an idiot for bringing that into the road.'

The truck went on its way again after speaking to one of the vegetable vendors on the roadside.

Thailand has one of the world's worst road safety records. Ministers have set the goal of reducing fatalities from 32.7 deaths per 100,000 people to 12 per 100,000 people by the year 2027.

However, a lack of road safety education in schools, cheap loans for cars, notoriously easy driving tests, police failures to enforce road laws as well as endemic corruption and chronic under-investment in infrastructure hamper the efforts.
