The last sailing of an innovative DFDS Sheerness to Calais ferry route took place this morning (June 28).

DFDS in partnership with Port of Sheerness created an unaccompanied freight route to Calais bypassing busy Dover, which grew rapidly in popularity over the last two years.

However, due to customer feedback, DFDS have now taken the decision to relocate the route to Tilbury in Essex, with the first sailing of the new Tilbury to Calais route due to sail this evening.

Footage shows ferry Botnia Seaways leaving Port of Sheerness at 11am local time this morning.

Botnia Seaways will continue to be used on the new Tilbury to Calais route.
