Motorists were rescued after a car fell into a sinkhole that opened up on a road in eastern China.

Dashcam video filmed in the city of Xuzhou in Jiangsu Province on June 27 shows a section of the road suddenly collapsing, causing a car to fall into the big sinkhole.

Three nearby residents rescued the people trapped in the car by pulling them out.

An officer from the Gulou District Traffic Police Brigade confirmed the road collapse, stating that traffic police are currently on site to maintain order, but the traffic has yet to be restored.

The cause of the dramatic sinkhole is still unknown.

6月27日下午5时左右，江苏徐州中山北路庆云桥南有路段突然塌陷，一辆汽车被困其中。现场视频显示，被困车辆车头部分朝下陷进坑中，车尾大部分在坑外，并且有白烟不断冒出。
一名附近的商户介绍，下午5时左右，他们注意到路面发生了塌陷，有一辆汽车陷在其中，车内人员事发后从车内逃生，“有三个人，有人帮他们从车里出来。”截至当晚7时，事发路段仍处于封闭状态。
鼓楼区交警大队一名工作人员表示，该路段确有塌陷，目前交警正在现场维持秩序，交通还未恢复，暂不清楚塌陷原因。
