Rare northern bald ibis chicks have been born in the wild for the first time in 400 years.

The parent birds built a nest at the Harley Davidson headquarters in Switzerland, marking a significant success for the reintroduction program in Europe. The birds were raised in zoos and guided to their winter feeding grounds in Italy using a microlight glider.

The Zurich Zoo confirmed the nest and expressed delight at the natural breeding event. Despite progress, the species remains endangered and faces threats such as power lines and illegal hunting. Efforts continue to boost their population for long-term survival.

The second part of the video shows 32 Northern bald Ibis chicks that were moved from the Rosegg zoo in Carinthia to the Schonbrunn zoo in April 2022.
