STORYLINE:

"Bond with Kuliang: 2023 China-U.S. People-to-People Friendship Forum" was held in Fuzhou, east China's Fujian Province on Wednesday.

During the forum, a number of attendees from the United States expressed their wishes for further cooperation and exchanges between the American and Chinese people.

"In Tacoma, we greatly value our important relationship with Fuzhou. We have been sister cities for almost 30 years. Lincoln High School and the Affiliated High School of Fuzhou Institute of Education signed a memorandum of understanding in 2008 to promote faculty exchanges, student exchanges, and cultural and sports exchanges. I cannot stress how important I believe these types of exchanges are for young people and for our communities. We must continue to find ways to help our cities celebrate each other and learn from our diverse cultures and histories."

"I bring warm greetings of aloha from the beautiful island of Oahu, to our good friends in the city of Fuzhou. It allows us to see each other, not as the sum of our differences, which are great, but the collective partners in our humanity. Our humanity relies on our ability and willingness to set aside those differences for the betterment of our world.

The forum, jointly held by the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and the government of Fujian Province, was attended by people from various sectors in China and the United States including some members of the Kuliang Friends.
