Savvy mum shares incredible hack for children's summer toy – using duct tape.
A savvy mum has shared a simple yet genius hack for a children’s summer toy – making ‘plant’ bracelets out of duct tape and little else.
Courtney Hinz has gone viral on Instagram revealing her quick and easy hacks for parents to keep the little ones entertained for hours.
The 29-year-old stay-at-home mum has designed what she calls "sticky nature bracelets", a DIY product that allows kids to make their own jewellery using plants and flowers.
And it barely costs anything to make.
"My children love it [the bracelets] – it has quickly become a staple in our house and something that we do often!" Courtney told NeedToKnow.co.uk.
"They love when I put one on myself and they can fill my bracelet up too.
"It’s so simple!
"Just get a piece of duct tape and wrap it around your child’s wrist with the sticky side facing out.
"As you’re outside or going for a walk, they can stick any of their findings to it such as flowers, plants or leaves."
Courtney, who has two kids, Greyson, three and Hazel, one with partner, Corey, 30, came up with the simple idea after looking for an easier way for her children to collect things on their walks.
She said: "My toddlers love to collect things when we go on walks.
"We had previously made a cardboard square and put packing tape inside so they could stick their findings to it.
"Once I realised how successful our sticky boards were, I started brainstorming other ways that we could showcase our nature findings."
In the video shared on her Instagram (@creativecuriosityy) and a Facebook parenting group, Courtney can be seen demonstrating how the bracelets work with her son and partner.
The clip sees everyone showing off their duct tape bracelets, followed by shots of her son collecting his "treasures" and sticking them to his wrist.
People online have been left amazed by the idea.
Leah commented: "Gawd you're so smart." [sic]
Anais said: "This would be so cool with my nephews."
Heath added: "Such a creative idea!!!"
