CCTV footage has emerged from China of a police officer being dragged by a car for almost a thousand metres before he finally managed to escape.

In the video, captured in Shanghai this month, the white car can be seen carrying the officer on side of the driving seat and crossing a couple of junctions among traffic.

According to news reports, the officer tested the driver to see if he was drunk, when the man suddenly shut the window tried to drive away, trapping the officer next to the car.

The policeman suffered minor injuries and the man was arrested in another province three days later. He is reportedly in custody pending further investigation.
