Lava has continued flowing from Mayon Volcano in the Philippines for almost a week. Yesterday (June 29), the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Philvolcs) said that the lava has already spread to two kilometers.

The volcano remains at alert level 4, indicating an elevated risk of a hazardous eruption.

Philvolcs recorded almost 100 shallow volcanic earthquakes between June 24 and June 30. According to scientific experts, this indicates that magma is moving closer to the ground surface.
