President Marcos and his wife visited an art exhibition featuring copies of Michelangelo's works - that his corrupt mother Imelda Marcos used to own.

Footage shows the country's 17th president walking along a shopping mall hallway with his family to attend the opening night of ‘Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel: The Exhibition' in Pasig City, the Philippines on June 28.

The area was heavily guarded by security as curious shopkeepers recorded the first family, who were re-elected last year following a social media blitz of false information that persuaded the country's uneducated majority to vote for them.

Onlooker Alfred Ang said: ‘The president and the first lady graced the event. There's so much to expect from the exhibition.'

Bongbong's family wealth came from his corrupt later father Ferdinand Marcos who plundered the country of more than 10 billion dollars - infamously using the ill-gotten cash for obscene shopping sprees for his wife Imelda.

However, in 2014, the family was ordered to surrender eight famous paintings - one of them Michelangelo's Madonna and Child - as they were allegedly part of the late dictator's criminal hoard.

The valuable painting, along with Pierre Bonnard's LaBaignade Au Grand Temps and Pablo Picasso's Reclining Woman VI, used to be in former first lady and current president's mother Imelda Marcos' collection.

She was convicted of graft for funneling 200 million USD to Swiss bank accounts in 2018.
