The Confucius Institute at the University of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania on Saturday celebrated its 10th anniversary.

"Achievements which have been accomplished through the Confucius Institute here at the University of Dar es Salaam, which include the collaborations with local schools and education institutions, some of them at the pictures you have seen from local schools but also the cultivation of talents, I think you have seen the talents from the performance, expansion of Confucius Institutes in different places here in Tanzania and also offering employment of local teachers in the institute."

"The establishment of the Confucius Institute at the University of Dar es Salaam has gradually become another bond of friendship between the two peoples. It's hoped that the Confucius Institute at the University of Dar es Salaam will continue to work hard in the future and make more outstanding contributions to the cooperative partnership between the two countries and two peoples."

In the past decade, the Confucius Institute has trained nearly 50,000 Chinese learners in Tanzania, providing them with the opportunity to study in China, said the ambassador.

The Confucius Institute at the University of Dar es Salaam was established in 2013 under an agreement between the University of Dar es Salaam, the Chinese International Education Foundation, and Zhejiang Normal University.
