STORYLINE:

Under the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC), China has developed homegrown solutions for local problems on its path toward modernization.

This is according to Isaac Karani Muthamia, founder and director of China Africa Liaison Center in a recent interview as the CPC marks its 102nd founding anniversary on July 1.

SOUNDBITE 1 (English): ISAAC KARANI MUTHAMIA, Founder and director, China Africa Liaison Center
"What impresses me the most about the Chinese path to modernization is their ability to develop homegrown solutions, Chinese solutions to Chinese problems. When you look at many countries, sometimes we lag behind in Africa. We lag behind because we're trying to import foreign solutions to our local problems. But what China has been able to do is develop local solutions to local problems. Even if the problem is local, but the solution is found elsewhere. They are able to adopt, customize it to the local problem or the local issue and implement (it) so that it suits the Chinese needs most."

The expert also hailed China's peaceful development which should be studied and emulated by other countries.

SOUNDBITE 2 (English): ISAAC KARANI MUTHAMIA, Founder and director, China Africa Liaison Center
"When you read world history worldwide, many economies developed, through suppression of other people who held factors of production, things such as slavery or exploitation of other players in the global world. But China is one of the unique players in the global stage which has been able to develop without causing war and chaos. And I think this is a very interesting model that should be studied and also emulated by global powers."
