This is the heroic moment kind tourists helped a scared pet dog cross an overflowing river in India.

The holidaymakers were enjoying the scenery when the weather suddenly shifted and a flash flood gushed over the rocks in Himachal Pradesh on June 18.

While they were quick to reach safe grounds, a disoriented pooch was left stuck standing on a large rock amid a raging deluge, so they came to the rescue.

Footage shows the sightseers displaying impressive teamwork to take the dog to the other side of the river.

Two of them held the dog to keep it from being washed away while the others extended their arms to catch the dog with a rope.

Tourist Sanya Makarin said: ‘The size of the river was enormous. Everyone had difficulty crossing, but the dog was terrified and could barely move.'

The pooch was carried to safety. It was unhurt, although a bit shaken from the ordeal.

Sanya added: ‘But the dog was safe thanks to those who helped. Everyone was safe. The dog was returned to the Tibetan monks.'
