Flash floods caused by rainfall hit northern China, killing 2
Flash floods caused by rainfall hit northern China, killing at least two people.
The video was filmed in Hohhot City in Inner Mongolia on July 2. The torrential floodwaters rushed into the gully, sweeping away a car in its path. After the flood subsided, local villagers discovered two damaged cars among the trees but received no response despite repeated calls.
The sudden deluge resulted in the disappearance of three individuals downstream. Currently, two of the missing persons have been found, both without vital signs, while one child remains unaccounted for. Local search and rescue efforts are still underway.
According to local reports, the incident occurred in a mountain gully where the floods originated after heavy rainfall on July 2. The missing individuals were tourists who had driven from Hohhot City.
At the time of the incident, their vehicle was parked in the gully. One man was rescued from the vehicle as the water rose, but three other occupants, including a child, were swept away by the raging floodwaters.
The incident location is not a tourist attraction.
Two of the missing persons have been located, unfortunately, without any signs of life. In response to the accident, the Emergency Management Bureau of Wuchuan County promptly mobilised more than 320 personnel, including public security, fire, emergency management, health, and local town and village officials, as well as the Xunda Civilian Rescue Team and militia. They deployed 31 rescue vehicles and machinery, along with three unmanned aerial drones, for search and rescue operations.
On the evening of July 3, a staff member from the government of Deshenggou Township stated that the township government is cooperating with relevant county departments in carrying out the search and rescue work.
The individuals who were swept away are not from the local area but from Hohhot City. A representative from the Emergency Management Bureau of Wuchuan County confirmed that the search and rescue operations are still ongoing
The video was provided by local media with permission.
