A hungry elephant wandered into a family's yard and stole a bag of bananas in China.

The wild tusker searched the home for food and stayed there for nearly an hour in Yunnan province on June 26.

Its patience was rewarded when it sniffed out a bag of fruit and scooped them up with its trunk. It then barged into two motorcycles, knocking them into a car.

As it tried to squeeze past the car on its way out, it ripped off the car's wing mirror.

The elephant also knocked over furniture and damaged the kitchen wall.

The homeowner, Luo Min, said he was baffled by the elephant's behaviour. He said that the elephant seemed oblivious to the chaos it was causing.

A Mengla County Forestry and Grass Bureau spokesperson said that if wild elephants cause damage, locals can contact the government department, and the insurance company will verify and pay.
