A kind temple-goer helped to save a stray dog that fell into a well.

Piriya Khakhong was on his way home with a friend after praying at a temple in Krabi province, Thailand on June 17.

But while walking, they heard a pooch crying and found it trapped in the bottom of a 25ft-deep hole.

Footage shows Piriya lowering a rope into the pit and caught the pooch with it. The brown dog was exhausted and confused but reached safety thanks to the good Samaritan.

Piriya said: ‘The well had some water. It was very lucky that it hadn't rained that day or the dog could have drowned.'

The pooch was taken back to the village and fed. It was not injured although starving.
