Ferris wheel gondolas spin round during windy weather in the Philippines
Ferris wheel gondolas spun round when they were blown by the wind during a storm in the Philippines.
Footage shows the empty cabins swinging violently at the top of the fairground ride at the Tagaytay Picnic Grove Park in Cavite province on May 29.
Tourist Mark Jester Nietes said the Ferris wheel had been closed at the time because of Typhoon Mawar.
He said: 'The wind was very strong at the time. Even the food we brought was being blown away. It's normally windy in Tagaytay, but it was rougher than usual because of the storm.'
Typhoon Mawar, known locally as 'Betty', entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility on May 27. It had spared the archipelago a direct hit, but was forecasted to enhance the prevailing southwest monsoon, bringing rains over the northern region.
Thousands of residents in the mountainous northern provinces were evacuated on May 29, with school and non-essential office work suspended.
Tropical Philippines sees an average of 20 storms per year. The Southeast Asian nation - ranked among the most vulnerable to climate change - grapples with devastating floods and landslides annually.
