An Ecuadorian expert has described the relationship between the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the Chinese people as "very close" because the CPC understands the needs of the people.
Cristian Mejia, an international journalist from Ecuador, made the remarks in a recent interview with Xinhua.
SOUNDBITE (Spanish): CRISTIAN MEJIA, Ecuadorian journalist
"The reason that the Communist Party (of China) took power in 1949, basically, was because the CPC understood the needs of the Chinese people. The relationship is very close because there is the knowledge of the needs of the Chinese people, how to anticipate these needs and how to respond to these needs. And that is a major point of Chinese policy.
The defeat of extreme poverty is one of the most significant and symbolic achievements of the Party, and that is why the people continue to trust them because they achieved it. That, I repeat, is only because they realized the needs, listened to the people and made sacrifices."
