STORYLINE:
Foreign filmmakers attending the 2023 Maritime Silk Road International Documentary Film Festival (MSRDOC) in Quanzhou, east China's Fujian Province, have said that people should come to China to see and sense the dynamism behind the country's development.
The event, which is being held from July 3 to 6 in Quanzhou, attracted over 400 representatives from both home and abroad.
SOUNDBITE 1 (English): MALCOLM CLARKE, British filmmaker and screenwriter
"I'd like to say to my Western friends, if you really want to see the future, come to China. It was a hugely exciting experience, and to see what China had achieved, to see the work that you guys have done. I decided that I wanted to stay."
SOUNDBITE 2 (English): W. PATERSON FERNS, C.M., Canadian independent producer
"I think the Chinese are spectacular in the way they get things done. I think we're seeing the future here. And it would be good if more people from (the West) were exposed to this, because I think it would take away some of their misconceptions."
