A large boulder came loose from the mountainside and collided with two cars in northeastern India’s Nagaland. The incident took place on Pakala hill at National Highway 29, between Dimapur and Kohima on July 4. Visuals showed the road congested with a long line of vehicles in hilly terrain, creating a traffic jam.

Suddenly, a massive boulder broke off and crashed down onto a car, completely flattening it. The car was completely crushed under the weight of the boulder, resulting in severe damage. Subsequently, another car ahead was also struck by a falling rock, causing it to overturn and rollover.

Two individuals lost their lives in this accident, while three others sustained serious injuries.

The victims have not been identified yet. The injured have been admitted to the hospital for treatment.

Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio expressed his condolences for the loss of lives in a tweet. He mentioned that the site of the accident is known as "Pakala Hill" and is infamous for landslides and falling rocks.

The Chief Minister stated that his government is taking all necessary steps to provide emergency services and essential medical assistance to the injured.
