A member of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) pulled off a memorable rescue of a youth, who was drowning in the Ganga river, in northern India's Uttarakhand.

This incident happened near Haridwar Kangra Bridge on July 7.

Visuals showed the SDRF official along with his colleagues saving the life of the youth who would have drowned had they not intervened. The youth, identified as a 20-year-old named Kunal was drowning when the official, Deepak Mehta, who was posted in the area, jumped into the water and came to his rescue. All of this happened in quick time and a delay could have proven to be fatal for the youth, who was unconscious. He laid on the ground as the other cops tried to revive him. Fortunately, he was fine and was given necessary first aid by the SDRF.

A massive crowd had gathered at the spot and the people thanked the SDRF officials for their timely intervention in saving the youth.
