Devotees wear LIVE snakes around their necks at serpent festival held in northern India
Hundreds of devotees gathered in Samastipur, Bihar, on July 7 for a serpent festival that saw locals wrap snakes around their bodies.
The event, which has been running for over 300 years, features bhagats (snake charmers) parading through the city streets with snakes in their hands.
According to Newsflare's filmer, some of the snakes brandished by the devotees were venomous and even deadly to humans.
At the event of the festivities, the snakes are released after devotees drink milk and say a vow.
