This photogenic octopus was keen to get its tentacles on this diver's camera.

David Moreno was diving off the southern coast of Spain near Cabo de Palos when we encountered an octopus on the seabed.

The footage captured on July 5 shows the mollusc reaching out to the device and attempting to pull it closer.

Moreno told Newsflare: "I was recording my friends when I saw this octopus laying on the seabed beneath a rock. I wanted to record it leaving the camera for a few minutes there.

"I didn't expect it to grab it. I was scared to lose it. As it was a new camera.

"I have never had an encounter like this before. They normally try to get away."

Yes I took the video.

The purpose was to record my and my friends when I saw this octopus laying on the seabed beneath a rock. I wanted to record it leaving the camera a few minutes there. I didn't expect it was going to grab it i was scared to lose it. As it was a new camera.

I got that scared to lose the csmera that I kept it safe on my backpack

I have never have had an encounter like this before. They normaly try to get away.
