State Disaster Response Force rescues three devotees from life-threatening situation in northern India
Three people participating in a ritual event were rescued by SDRF after they drowned in the river in northern India's Uttrakhand.
The incident took place near Kangra Bridge and Naav Ghat, Haridwar District on July 6.
Visuals showed SDRF personnel skillfully navigated the challenging river conditions and successfully reached them, who were on the verge of drowning.
Using a raft, the SDRF team managed to secure the Kanwariyas and safely bring them back to the shore
The three devotees, identified as Rajendra Umra, Vikas, and Sumit, encountered a life-threatening situation while performing their religious rituals near the river. As they were immersing themselves in the holy Ganges, they were suddenly caught in a strong current, which carried them away and put their lives at risk.
Fortunately, the SDRF team was present in the vicinity and swiftly responded to the emergency. Employing their expertise and equipment, the SDRF personnel immediately launched a rescue operation.
The prompt action and coordination by the SDRF team ensured that the devotees were saved from a potentially fatal situation.
The rescued have been identified as Rajendra Umra, aged 50, hailing from Rewari, Haryana; Vikas, son of Rajesh, from Hisar, Haryana; and Sumit, aged 21, son of Vedpal, residing in Charkhi Dadri, Haryana.
This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of safety measures during religious pilgrimages, and it highlights the crucial role played by emergency response teams in ensuring the well-being of devotees. Authorities have urged all participants in the Kanwar Yatra and other religious gatherings to remain cautious and follow guidelines to prevent such mishaps in the future.
