An excise department in north India destroyed liquor bottles worth an estimated USD $1,573,555 using a bulldozer.

The incident took place in Ghaziabad city, Uttar Pradesh on July 7.

The department stated it destroyed 9500 liquor bottles worth INR 700-1000 (USD $8.47- 12.10) per bottle that had reached their expiration date.

The bottles were two to three years old and were kept up for sale, however, as it had reached its expiration date and was not valid for sale, it was destroyed under the supervision of the sub-district magistrate.

The excise department has destroyed liquor bottles worth Rs. 13 crores (USD 1,573,555) using a bulldozer on the road in northern India's Uttar Pradesh.

Excise officer Rakesh Kumar Singh told the media that old liquor was kept in liquor godowns located in Dasna and Morta. All this liquor was valid for sale in Uttar Pradesh. But due to being old, it could not be sold in the market.
