Indian excise officers steamroll thousands of bottles of illegal liquor

An excise department in north India destroyed liquor bottles worth an estimated USD $1,573,555 using a bulldozer.

The incident took place in Ghaziabad city, Uttar Pradesh on July 7.

The department stated it destroyed 9500 liquor bottles worth INR 700-1000 (USD $8.47- 12.10) per bottle that had reached their expiration date.

The bottles were two to three years old and were kept up for sale, however, as it had reached its expiration date and was not valid for sale, it was destroyed under the supervision of the sub-district magistrate.
