People in the Dutch city of Leiden on Saturday celebrated the Rembrandt Days with performances, tours, workshops, and lectures.

Leiden is the birthplace of Dutch painter Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn. During the two-day event, the city's historic center has been transformed into a 17th-century atmosphere, complete with hundreds of actors and extras, historical materials, and other props from that time, to celebrate the life and work of Rembrandt.

Visitors can explore the city and its rich culture by taking part in various activities. There are guided tours covering major sites associated with Rembrandt's life, including galleries that show off his artworks. Visitors can also take part in workshops and lectures about art history and Rembrandt himself.

In addition to exploring Leiden's old town center, visitors can also stroll through its charming cobbled streets lined with colorful 17th-century buildings. They can take part in traditional Dutch activities like cheese-making or take a boat ride along one of its many canals.

Born on July 15, 1606, Rembrandt grew into a master painter during the first 25 years of his life in Leiden and created many famous works here.
