STORYLINE:

Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad Al-Maliki and his Omani counterpart Sayyid Badr Hamad al-Busaidi, signed on Friday an agreement to establish a committee for consultation and bilateral cooperation between the governments of the two countries.

The ceremony of signature came during the meeting between the two ministers at the headquarters of Palestinian Foreign Ministry in the West Bank city of Ramallah.

Al-Maliki praised the courageous Omani position in support of the legitimate and just rights of the Palestinian people, indicating the importance of strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the political framework.

"The visit aims to stand and see the conditions in Palestine as a result of the continuous Israeli operation in the Palestinian territories and to express support for our people. We have informed the Omani guest that the Palestinians suffer due to the lack of a sense of security and the policies carried out by Israel. We asked Oman to support the Palestinian positions and provide support to our people."

The Omani minister conveyed a message from the Sultan of Oman, Haitham bin Tariq Al Said, in which he extended an invitation to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to visit Oman in order to discuss bilateral relations, reaffirming his country's unwavering support for the Palestinian people and their just cause.
