STORYLINE:

The Chinese Proficiency Test Spain Committee (CPTSC) sent a group of Spanish students to China during the weekend to take the official Chinese exam in Shanghai.

The CPTSC, in collaboration with the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC) under China's Ministry of Education, seeks to help students in Spain learn the Chinese language well while disseminating Chinese culture.

SOUNDBITE 1 (Spanish): WANG XIAOLING, Representative of the Chinese Proficiency Test Spain Committee
"It is very important for the exchange between two countries. For the students, it is an immersive way to learn about Chinese culture and language. And the flights between China and Spain create a bond by getting to know the culture in a more direct way".

This type of trip is being resumed after the hiatus caused by the pandemic more than three years ago.

SOUNDBITE 2 (Spanish): MIGUEL HERNANDEZ, Venezuelan-Spanish student
"I'm very excited because I never imagined that I could have the opportunity to travel to China, learn about and be part of the culture. I love learning the culture and the language very much."

SOUNDBITE 3 (Spanish): CARLOTA PINE OLIVER, Student from Asturias, Spain
"I hope to learn more about Chinese culture on this trip."

The committee is an active participant in education fairs and provides support to educational communities by promoting scholarships for both children and adults.
