A group of tourists sparked panic when they were seen tangled in a drunken roadside brawl in Thailand.

The holidaymakers began fighting on the hard shoulder of the Montri - Phang Nga road during heavy rain on holiday island Phuket on June 29.

Police officers said they were notified at around 10:50 pm and arrived at the scene to investigate.

Cops said they found one foreigner who refused to speak when interrogated. The dazed person then began to wander around until he found his three friends who were also tourists, they said.

Speaking to authorities, the group explained that one of them had become very drunk and refused to return to their hotel. They clarified that they were not engaged in a punch-up.

Phuket police said they have not filed any charges as no one was harmed. The tourists thanked them and were allowed to leave the police station.
