Massive python pulled from family's home after rescuers hammered through the wall
A massive python was pulled from a family's home when rescuers hammered through the wall.
The 12ft-long reptile made banging noises as it slithered under the ceiling connected to a narrow space behind the wooden wall of the property in Songkhla province, Thailand on June 8.
It was eventually discovered thanks to the residents' pet cat that kept scratching at the spot where it had been hiding.
Footage shows an animal rescue team using tools to break through the structure. Soon after, the large reptile emerged and was pulled out from the tight space using catching poles.
Relieved house owner Onnalin Kaewkoead said: ‘My cat kept staring at that spot in the house. I was scared at first thinking it could be seeing a ghost then I heard the sounds.'
‘When the sounds grew more obvious my sister looked through the gaps and she saw the snake. It was even more scary.'
The python fell to the floor and coiled around the pole while rescuers tried to secure it.
Two team members dragged the snake out of the house together and was taken back to their facility before being released.
Onnalin added: ‘We will have the ceiling and wall repaired. I hope no more snakes would be tempted to hide there again.'
The reticulated python is found throughout Southeast Asia, where they live in forests, swamps, canals and even in cities, causing them to come into conflict with humans. The species is one of the world's largest snakes and can eat humans, cats, dogs, birds, rats and other snakes.
