Dozens of passengers were left sweltering on a plane when the air con failed.

Footage shows irritated travellers onboard Cebu Pacific flight 5J450 waiting in the aisle for the Airbus A320 doors to finally open upon arriving at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila, the Philippines, on May 22.

One of the passengers, Concon Felix, said the low-cost carrier's cooling system was not working leaving them suffocating the entire flight.

He said: ‘The entire time we were flying, we had to use improvised fans to get through the heat. It was too much.'

Some of those caught in the hellish-hot flight were senior citizens who were most at risk of heatstroke and other heat-related diseases.

Disappointed Concon added: ‘What if someone had a heart attack during flight because of the heat? I hope Cebu Pcific would fix their services.

‘When are they going to repair the aircon? Why did they allow it to fly in such a condition in the first place? Are they waiting for someone to get hurt before taking some accountability?'

The passengers immediately started to form a queue upon landing. Concon added: 'The pilot said we could disembark in five to ten minutes but it took a long time for the doors to open. It was chaos.'

Just last month, the budget airline became the subject of a Senate hearing to investigate passenger complaints for allegedly overbooking flights and offloading passengers.
