Rebel forcec were being treated in Thailand following alleged airstrikes from the Burmese junta.

The Karen Army reported that a 'significant deployment' of state troops were stationed at the Thai-Myanmar border leading to heavy gunfighting between anti-junta militia and pro-government troops on July 6 and 7.

The Karen Army said the Myanmar Air Force deployed an MiG-29 aircraft and Mi-35 helicopters allegedly to launch attacks on Karen soldiers.

Seven resistance members who sustained severe injuries were transported to a hospital in Mae Hong Son, Thailand, for medical treatment.

Meanwhile, the other injured Karen troops are receiving treatment at a military base.

On the morning of July 7, Myanmar soldiers reportedly fired mortar shells towards a Karen Army base in Myanmar near the border in Mae Hong Son.

Thai locals reported hearing the sound of mortar shots clearly at seven-minute intervals.

Currently, there are 5,156 Myanmar refugees seeking shelter in four temporary shelters in Thailand.

Fighting between the armed militias and the Burmese military has intensified amid the political turmoil in Myanmar caused by the ousting of former leader Aung San Suu Kyi in February 2021.

Several months of protests erupted across Myanmar, also known as Burma, but hundreds of civilians were killed amid forceful crackdowns. The army has since regained control through ongoing intimidation and arrests but the country remains divided and rebel groups clash regularly with state soldiers.
