A innovative man showcased his pancake-cooking skills directly on a manhole cover as temperature soared to a scorching 40 degrees Celsius in northern China.

Video filmed in Hengshui City in Hebei Province on July 10 shows the man named Ren first brushing the manhole cover with oil and pouring the pancake batter onto it. Within a mere two to three minutes, a perfectly cooked pancake emerged.

A red alert issued by the Hengshui Meteorological Observatory on July 9 stated that temperatures could reach a scorching 37 to 39 degrees Celsius across all counties and districts of Hengshui, with some southern areas experiencing temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius.

This ongoing heatwave in northern China has persisted for six consecutive days since July 5. However, relief may be on the horizon as the forecast suggests that the heatwave will gradually subside from July 12 onwards due to the expected arrival of rainfall. Meanwhile, regions in southern China, including the majority of the Jiangnan and South China regions, will continue to endure the sweltering conditions.
