Police raided a gay sauna where customers wore wristbands for male prostitution services in Bangkok, Thailand.

Officers from the Metropolitan Police Bureau's Children and Women Protection Sub-Division searched the Phoenix Fitness and Sauna Service Centre along the Ratchada-Tha Phra Road on July 8 following anonymous tips that the establishment was selling sex services.

Customers would allegedly pay a 200-Baht (5.7 USD) entry fee before finding a boy of their choice based on various wristbands indicating their sexual preference. They would then take them into a private room.

Officers scoured the six-storey cruising location that housed a reception area and locker room on the ground floor, a gym on the second floor, 'resting rooms' on the third, fourth, and fifth floors, and a sauna on the topmost floor.

Cops said they found many used condoms in massage rooms and also caught several customers mid-coitus during the raid.

They detained 31 customers, four employees, and the owner Surasak, 33. One of the customers, 25, was also found to have an existing arrest warrant for money laundering in Krabi province.

The suspects were frogmarched into a waiting truck before being detained at the Bukkhalo Police Station for questioning.

Police Major Yotchanin Prasertsopar of the Metropolitan Police Bureau's Children and Women Protection Sub-Division said: 'The establishment catered to gay customers and charged an entry fee of 200 Baht.

'Customers were provided with a bracelet, which they would wear on their right hand if they wanted to top, or on their left hand if they wanted to bottom.

'If customers were mutually interested in each other, they were given access to private rooms within the establishment for engaging in sexual intercourse.'

Police administered drug tests but found the arrested individuals clean.

Surasak was detained 'for procuring prostitution' while one customer remained in police custody for a money laundering charge. The rest were released, Police Major Yotchanin said.
