Lights shook inside a home when a magnitude 5 earthquake struck the Philippines on Monday evening.

Video shows the fixtures swinging from the ceiling of a house in Tacloban City, Leyte province on July 10.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said the earthquake was centred in Llorente town in Eastern Samar province.

It struck at a depth of 32 kilometres at around 9:01 pm, and was felt in neighbouring provinces, including Leyte and Samar.

PHIVOLCS said no damage was expected, but warned of possible aftershocks.

The Philippines is an archipelago of more than 7,000 islands inside the Pacific 'Ring of Fire' where the majority of Earth's volcano eruptions and earthquakes happen.
