Police chased down a fleeing driver who caused multiple collisions 'while under the influence of drugs' in Thailand.

Bawornwong Krairerk, 36, crashed into six vehicles and nearly hit pedestrians when he drove over the sidewalk in Khon Kaen province on July 7. When officers arrived to detain him, he revved his engine and sped away on his Ora Good Cat car.

Dramatic footage shows the nail-biting pursuit as police attempted to block Bawornwong's path. Law enforcers said they deployed stop sticks and caltrops to puncture his tyres, to no avail.

The crumpled gray car was seen turning into an alley where cops were waiting, and ramming into a patrol pick-up truck used to block the street. Police in vests converged on the car, dragged out Bawornwong and pinned him to the ground.

He was taken to the Mueang Khon Kaen Police Station for questioning.

Police Captain Preecha Kengsarikij, superintendent of Mueang Khon Kaen Police Station, said: 'The suspect involved in the incident was identified as 36-year-old Bawornwong Krairerk. After he was apprehended, it was discovered that he was under the influence of narcotics. We brought him to the police station and are waiting for him to calm down.'

Once he was sober, Bawornwong allegedly admitted to using crystal meth the night before, causing him to hallucinate.

Officers said a test confirmed he had consumed the drugs. His parents have been informed of the trouble he had caused, they added.

Police Captain Preecha said: 'Bawornwong was charged with five offences, including reckless driving and the use of Category I narcotics.

'As a result of the incident, six vehicles, including the police car, sustained damage. The respective owners of the vehicles have filed reports with the police regarding the damages caused.'
