Hunters Home

By Shannine O’Neill

**EXCLUSIVE**

THIS URBAN explorer found animal carcases hanging and live ammo lying about inside the most sinister abandoned farmhouse you are likely to see.

One image of this home that is a monument to the hunting heritage of the previous owners, shows a mysterious rotting animal meat hanging from the hook of a doorframe as well as taxidermy deer on display.

Another image shows shotgun cartridges spilled on a bed and other vintage belongings from the past owners such as well-loved hats and a hand-held mirror that would have been used daily.

Urban explorer known as ‘urbexquisite’ (29) from Leamington Spa, Warwickshire explored an abandoned farmhouse in Herefordshire, UK where there was animal meat hanging from the ceiling, animal bones and taxidermy deer heads on the walls.

Urbexquisite captured images of old, rotten meat hanging from the door hooks and personal belongings from the old owners using a Sony a7iI camera and her smartphone.

The farmhouse once belonged to an elderly couple who farmed on the land for over 50-years, before passing away in the early 2000s.

No one truly knows when the farm was left abandoned, as the couple’s son took it over when they passed, but soon fled the home as he couldn’t handle being there alone with the memories of his deceased parents.

The farmhouse looks like it’s been stuck in time with half-drunk bottles still sitting on the kitchen tables and dresses hung on the wardrobe doors, as if waiting for its owner to come back and get dressed for the day ahead.

There is an old piano left in the living room area that is now left to rot away without anyone to play it.

Urbexquisite felt quite unsure walking through the home, as it looked as if she were walking through a time capsule and the lives of both the elderly owners had just suddenly stopped one day.

“I felt a mix of excitement and fear as the house was frozen in time with all of the belongings left behind,” she said.

“It was like someone left and never came back. It must have been a lovely house back in the days.

“Exploring the house felt weird mainly because of the old meat still hanging on the hooks and doors.

“The building is very old so I had to be really careful with my steps as one of the bedrooms upstairs was completely collapsed.”

One of the most unsettling things the explorer found was the rotting meat hanging from hooks around the home, which would have been left from the family’s farming days.

“The weirdest thing I found there was animal meat hanging on the doors and hooks,” she said.

“Also a lot of animal bones and taxidermy deer head on one of the walls.

“The farm belonged to an elderly couple who died in the early 2000's.

“After their deaths, their son was unable to live alone in the house and it has been vacant ever since.

“The owner of the house was a well known farmer who was a multiple winner in agricultural shows and he farmed the area for around 50 years.”

Although it felt unsettling and creepy at times, the urban explorer found it incredibly fascinating to be walking through the home that was still filled with so many belongings and memories of the past.

“My favourite part of the exploration was the living room with an old piano which is now rotting away, beautiful collection of porcelain dining sets and figurines,” she said.

“There were a lot of nice paintings.

“I also really liked one of the bedrooms with a beautiful Victorian bed, dressing table and vintage clothes still hanging in the wardrobes.

“There were plenty of old fashioned ladies shoes and jewellery too.”
