TikTok doctor reveals surprising reason you should ALWAYS have a wee before car journeys
A TikTok doctor has left the internet stunned after revealing the surprising reason you should always visit the toilet before embarking on a long car journey.
The video has gone viral, with over 1 million views and 87,000 likes – where a doctor from Med Explained 2 You reveals the shocking fact.
In short: peeing before a drive could give you a “better chance of survival” – if you’re ever in an accident.
In the TikTok, the doctor explains how the body could be affected by toilet visits.
Describing the bladder as a “balloon”, the doctor says it could rupture and “lead to a quick death” during an accident.
“It’s to give you the best chance of survival if you get into a car accident,” he says.
“This is because your bladder is like a balloon, when you pee it deflates the balloon, and when hold it, it inflates it.
“If you get into a car accident with an inflated bladder you’re more likely to have a intra-peritoneal abdominal rupture.
“This is devastating and can lead to a quick death.”
The good doctor also explained that it’s more difficult to “pop” the balloon if you’ve been to the toilet beforehand.
He said: “If you get into a car accident with your bladder deflated, it’s much harder to pop that balloon.
“You’re much more likely to get an extra-peritoneal abdominal rupture which is much less of a big deal.”
Social media users have been left shocked by the revelation.
Cat Valencia said: “New fear unlocked.”
Rob Stacknick added: “Not to worry, us older folks always pee before every ride.”
