A troupe of human-like service robots wowed audiences at the 2023 World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai, China.

On July 6, these AI marvels brought to life the traditional Chinese 'Thousand-Hand Guanyin' dance, captivating spectators and experts alike.

Five robots were seen lined up in a straight row, swinging their arms in different positions with rhythm, the entire process impeccably coordinated.

According to Chen Yuan, the vice president of Damo Robots, these robots, named Cloud Ginger, can perform complex group dances like the 'Thousand-Hand Guanyin' due to full control by the cloud brain.

"'The series of robots we've introduced are based on Damo's RobotGPT, a large industry model for robots, which allows robots to truly 'come to life.' We can make this GPT recognize human intentions and break them down into a series of action sequences for the robot to complete," Chen Yuan told reporters.

Chen stated that Damo's goal is not to have robots just doing welcome work. Instead, they hope to use RobotGPT to use human tools to accomplish more practical tasks, such as making coffee and cleaning.
