This is the chaotic moment drivers were stuck in 'Mexican standoff' with each car refusing to give way.

Footage from an apartment overlooking the junction shows the gridlock during rush hour in the Taguig City area of Manila, the Philippines, on May 24.

The bungling motorists caused a severe traffic jam that stretched more than a mile to the nearby district of Makati.

Resident Albert Go who was watching the chaotic scene unfold from a building window said it was one of the worsts he had seen.

He said: 'The undisciplined drivers did not care for others, so they were all caught in the traffic jam. It was unbelievable,'

Traffic in the semi-developed city of Manila is notoriously bad.

In 2020, the capital was ranked the second worst in the world by TomTom's annual traffic index.
