The scale of flooding that has left numerous fields and houses in Chandigarh, Punjab, submerged is revealed in this drone footage.

The city recorded 449mm of rainfall in just 50 hours which is 40 per cent of the annual rainfall quota.

Chandigarh recorded 96mm of rainfall till 8.30 am and added another 51mm till 10.30 am, making it a total of 449mm of rainfall in a span of 50 hours, which is 40% of the annual rainfall quota of the city. As more rain is forecast in the Tricity, another 100+ accumulation is expected in Chandigarh, Panchkula, and Mohali.

With a rise in the level of the river, the water breached one of the outer walls of the society and entered the compound. Most of the occupants of 1,000 were present in their homes as it was Sunday. The residents made distressed calls, following which a team from National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) was deployed, which carried out rescue efforts with rafts and ladders.
