Police in the UK are probing a theft after hilarious CCTV emerged - of a man sticking two golf clubs down his trousers.

Footage shows two men browsing the pro shop at Royal Winchester Golf Club in Hampshire in the south of England.

They get to the putters, where one appears to shove two clubs - worth £850 - down his trousers while the other helps.

The duo then carry on as if nothing has happened before seemingly making for the exit.

Ferndown Forest Golf Course - a Dorset club linked to Royal Winchester - tweeted out the video.

It said: "The standard of crooks today has really gone down hill."

"Watch this from our Royal Winchester Shop.... Just needs a Benny Hill tune played over the top."

"I promise it is real and not a set up."

A follow-up tweet added: "Before anyone asks, the staff were by the door speaking with another customer."

"These two walked out and got in to their van and drove away."

We have all their details and have since identified them."

The club have since said that the golf clubs - both £425 Scotty Cameron putters - have been returned.

Hampshire Police has been informed and is investigating.

A force spokesperson said: "We received report of a theft from the Royal Winchester Golf Club at around 2pm on Sunday 9 July."

"Golf putters were stolen."

"Officers are investigating and would ask anyone with information to contact us with reference 44230275404."

In response to the video on Twitter, one person said: "What a double bogey!"
