Eerie moment great white shark swims right next to paddleboarder
This Is the eerie moment a great white shark swam directly under a paddleboarder.
Bill Clements was paddling just 100 yards from the shore near San Diego, California, USA, on July 2 when he was joined by one of the ocean’s apex predators.
Heart pounding footage shows the shadow of a great white gliding right next to the left side of Bill’s board leaving him to say ‘god there he is’.
Bill, 44, had recently visited South Africa with a view to seeing great white sharks but was unsuccessful due to bad weather.
Bill said: “It was amazing. I had just passed a pair of people snorkelling and I was looking down and surprised by just how shallow it was around me.
“Then I saw the fin pierce the water ahead of me. I though ‘woah that has to be a shark’ and sure enough it was.
“I went right past it and it had an eerie but beautiful way about the way it moved in the water.
“It was such a thrilling and unexpected encounter. It was spooky to see the dark unmistakeable shadow of a great white beneath the surface.
“Mel and I travelled all the way to Cape Town, South Africa, in hopes of seeing a great white. Unfortunately due to bad weather we weren’t able to get on the water.
“It was so ironic to see one right in my back yard.”
