This is the dramatic moment a plane skidded off a wet runway while it was landing in Brazil.

LATAM Airlines Brasil flight LA3300 had departed the Sao Paulo-Guarulhos Airport and had arrived at the Florianopolis-Hercilio Luz International Airport when it veered off the strip on July 12 at around 9:20 am

Footage shows how the Airbus 321 skidded to the left towards the grass, with its reverse thrusters activated. Terrified passengers inside the narrowbody jet were heard screaming as the aircraft suddenly crashed through the surface with an unnerving jolt.

Pictures from the scene of the accident show how the right side of the landing gear appeared to have plunged through a section of the runway's hard shoulder - which is softer than the main landing strip.

Emergency services responded to the incident, and the passenger and crew safely disembarked with mobile airstairs. There were no reports of injuries following the crash in the state of Santa Catarina.

In a statement, LATAM Airlines Brasil said: 'We reinforce that all 172 passengers and 7 crew members of flight LA3300 were disembarked safely and released after the evaluation of the medical team.

The airline and the airport are now investigating the incident.
